Bingo! We Have a Beach Blanket.

Photobucket

Anyone remember the Frankie and Annette movies? In my younger days, Annette was my first recollection of a girl that made me feel funny inside. I thought Annette Funicello was the hottest thing ever!
Many years later, I had the good fortune of running into her at the Adolphus Hotel in Dallas. Here are some things I remember about these movies.
1. Annette, AKA DeeDee – The Italian bombshell. She had really huge hair for someone that was always at the beach. By the way, my first love in junior high was named Dee Dee. Is this coincidence, or was there some wishful thinking there?
2. Frankie, AKA as, well, Frankie – I so wanted to be him. He too always had perfect hair for always being at the beach. He was kind of a dork, but he got to be with Dee Dee.
3. Bonehead , AKA as Boner – Goofy as the day is long and the poor guy has to live with his grandkids asking him, “hey grandpa, tell us about when you were boner..snicker snicker”.
4. Erick Von Zipper – Who knew those leather outfits, would one day become all the rage with the leather gays?
5. Don Rickles – Always had kind of cameo spots in these movies.
6. Buster Keaton – Made a few appearances. That’s when you know that your career is on the downhill slide.

It's Just Around The Corner

It's almost Margarita time. That's right. Let's fire up the grill, bring out the enchiladas, and whip up some guacemole. I'm ready! lol You see, now that Thanksgiving is upon us, I've started thinking about family traditions and what people consider to be the "traditional" Thanksgiving meal. I think most people would consider that to be Turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, corn, rolls and cranberry sauce that's shaped like a can. I know. I know. There are better options for cranberry sauce but, to me it has to look like that or it's just not right for some reason.lol Then there are the desserts. Yikes. Don't get me started there.lol There are always too many to choose from. My dad's side of the family has that meal every year and I always look forward to it. My mom's side of the family, however, does it just a little bit differently though. We have 2 meals. There might be a basic turkey dinner just for the sake of doing it but, it takes a back burner to what everyone really wants and that is, mexican food. I'm not sure how it started but, it's just expected now. I was wondering if anyone else has some interesting and unusual Thanksgiving traditions they would like to talk about.
