I had just gotten married in October and was looking forward to my new wife and me spending our first Christmas together. I quickly found out that even though I had dated her for almost 4 years, there were still quite a few things that I didn’t know about my precious new bride.I grew up with real trees for Christmas. I loved the smell of them and the fact that it made Christmas a little less plastic than it already was. Of course my new partner was raised with an artificial tree because it wasn’t as messy and you bought it once and had it for years to come. When it came to decorations, I loved multiple color lights and decorations. This made it seem so colorful and festive. Yeah, you guessed it, she wanted a “theme”. All lights had to be the same color to create a classy look.
Here is the best part. In the early days of our marriage we were not starving, but were struggling a bit to make ends meet so there was not an over abundance of money. On the day after Christmas my wife comes home with a new Christmas tree. I flipped out! Her response was “you are not going to believe the deal I got on this tree”. I did not understand the concept of buying a tree on the day after Christmas, but we did get a beautiful tree that lasted us many years at a fraction of the price that it normally sold for.
Here is another way to save money on items that you buy off season. It seems crazy to be buying beach stuff when you are buried under 3 feet of snow, but the winter is the best time to buy those items that skyrocket in price when the summer season rolls around. Many vendors place their “hot” seasonal items on sale in the off season to help them close out items as well as keeping the cash-flow going.
Here is a GREAT SITE for finding awesome deals on your beach stuff. If nothing else you will feel the warmth of the website during these cold winter months.
